1. How is this class graded?
This class is graded on attendance. It is your responsibility to sign in every day on the attendance sheet and to notify Lindsey if you need your absence excused or you cannot attend an important event. Everyone is allowed three absences (that counts rehearsals and concerts), after which you may not pass the class.
2. Is there a final?
Generally, no. There is no formal final. However, there may be a concert at the end of the quarter that falls during finals week. This would count as a regular performance, which means if you miss it, it would count toward one of your absences unless otherwise specified.
3. Who can be in the choir?
Just about anyone can be in the choir, just as long as they feel like singing. Everyone is welcome. You do not have to be enrolled in the school to join. However, if you are not formally enrolled in the class, please attend rehearsals and concerts regularly unless you have a conflict.
4. Is transportation provided to performances?
Generally, no. We rarely ever charter a bus, although in some circumstances we have had that rare opportunity. What we normally do is meet at a designated location prior to the performance and carpool from there. The general rule is, in Calvin's words, "If you join the choir, so does your car" and this has never been a problem. All we ask is that the passengers offer their driver a few dollars for compensation. This is a very small price to pay for transportation, not to mention the opportunity to get to know your fellow passengers.
